Message from The Deputy Director General and Chairperson of the 100th Anniversary Celebrations and 5th Scientific Congress Core Committee

Dear Esteemed Colleagues, Distinguished Partners, and Honored Friends,

As we stand on the threshold of a momentous milestone, the centennial celebration of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), I am filled with a profound sense of pride and honor. Reflecting on our journey since 1924, it is also clear that our unwavering dedication to research and technology transfer has been the driving force behind our success in advancing public health.

Our commitment over the past 100 years has been not only to conduct research but also to ensure that the fruits of our labor are translated into tangible benefits for the health and well-being of all Ethiopians. The Research and Technology Transfer Directorate has been pivotal in this endeavor, in facilitating groundbreaking discoveries and in the implementation of innovative health interventions.

As the Deputy Director General for Research and Technology Transfer, and as the chairperson of the 100th anniversary celebration organizing core Committee of EPHI, I have had the privilege of overseeing a myriad of achievements. We have established guidelines for health technology transfer, ensuring that both indigenous and foreign technologies are adapted to accelerate our nation’s economic development and modernization. Our research has informed health policy and practice, not only within Ethiopia but also internationally, contributing significantly to disease surveillance and control.

As we celebrate this centenary, we are reminded of the importance of our work in shaping the future of public health. Our focus on technology transfer is more than just a process; it is a commitment to improving lives through the adoption and adaptation of innovative solutions.

I extend my deepest gratitude to all who have supported our mission. Your collaboration has been essential to our achievements, and I look forward to forging new paths together as we continue to champion the advancement of public health research and technology transfer.

Here’s to a future where our research and technology transfer endeavors lead to a healthier Ethiopia for generations to come.

Warm regards,

Dr. Getachew Tollera (MD, MPH)
